Full Greek Film Festival Program for 2025 has been announced for Sydney!
Celebrating 30 Years of Greek Cinema
We are thrilled to invite you to celebrate our milestone 30th anniversary from October 14th to 26th, 2025. It's going to be a spectacular celebration of Greek cinema in Australia, with an amazing lineup of films, special events, and some surprises we can't wait to share with you.
Opening and Closing Night events

Our milestone festival will launch with the epic film Kapetan Mihalis as its opening night gala on Tuesday, October 14th at Palace Norton St, Leichhardt.

The closing night will feature the latest film from director Renos Haralambidis, Athens Midnight Radio, which will screen on Sunday, October 26th at Palace Cinemas Moore Park.
Film Retrospectives
This year’s program is a testament to the festival’s rich history, featuring three unique retrospectives:

Best of the Past 29 Years: Revisit iconic films like A Touch of Spice, Rebetiko, and Dogtooth, as well as classics from renowned directors like Pantelis Voulgaris. The retrospective will also include a special screening of The Flea, the very first film to open the GFF in Australia.

Sydney Filmmakers: A tribute to local talent, this retrospective will showcase the contributions of Sydney-based directors and writers like Kosta Nikas, Alex Lykos, Billy Cotsis and Kay Pavlou.

Renos Haralambidis: A celebration of the iconic Greek actor and director’s entire body of work, featuring screenings of his films, including Cheap Smokes, 4 Black Suits, The Heart of the Beast and the iconic No Budget Story.
Contemporary Greek Cinema
Our 30th edition of the GFF will also feature a selection of the latest Greek, Cypriot, and Greek-themed independent films, documentaries, and cinematic masterpieces. Highlights include:

The Return with Ralph Fiennes.

Maria with Angelina Jolie.

Cypriot films like Diversion and Smaragda.

The iconic film Stelios and remarkable documentaries such as Super Paradise, Memento & Dourgouti Town.
Guest of Honour - Renos Haralambidis
For our 30th GFF, we couldn't be more excited to have a very special guest of honour join us from Greece! In collaboration with the Athenian Association of NSW, we are thrilled to welcome the renowned Greek director, writer, and actor, Renos Haralambidis. Renos will be in Sydney from October 24th to 27th, 2025, for a dedicated retrospective celebrating his incredible body of work. His entire filmography will be screened as part of our festival's lineup.
