The Greek Orthodox Community of South Australia Incorporated in partnership with Palace Nova Eastend Cinemas, is proud to present the 5th Adelaide Greek Film Festival. The Festival will run between Thursday 28 September and Monday 2 October 2006 at Palace Nova Eastend Cinemas, Rundle Street, Adelaide.
Opening night will feature Sirens in the Aegean, directed by Nikos Perakis in 2005. The farcical tale is a sequel to the original movie Loafing and Camouflage of 1984 and revolves around the impounding of a Turkish yacht by Greek sailors after its captain attempts to put a group of illegal immigrants ashore on a small Greek island. Sirens in the Aegean stars Yiannis Tsimitselis.

Once again the Festival's lineup of 12 films showcases the range and robustness of recent Greek cinema, with a wide variety of subjects including cross-cultural romance (Liubi), and sexually provocative comedy (Honey and the Pig).
For the first time, this year's program will also include a number of family films. These films include Fading Light and The Little Dolphins.
A gala reception will be held at Palace Nova Eastend Cinemas, 274 Rundle Street Adelaide, following the screening of the opening night film Sirens in the Aegean. Guests will be treated to Greek hors d'oeuvres, refreshments and an extraordinary live performance of Greek music with vocals by Tassos Bouyiessis.
This year the 5th Adelaide Greek Film Festival will be a part of Adelaide's Hellenic Cultural Festival "Odyssey".
