GREEK CINEMA is one of the many spices that make up the Australian cultural cuisine and The 12th Greek Film Festival of Sydney, which is an initiative of The Greek Orthodox Community of NSW, is crammed full of flavour to spice up OUR lives.

A Touch of Spice is one of the best loved and most watched films in Greek cinematic history (1.5 million of Greece's 10 million population saw it). One film writer said "A Touch of Spice packs an emotional punch that leaves you weak at the knees" and even hard edged critics have been spotted at previews with tears in their eyes. It is a pleasure to have the director Tassos Boulmetis here as a guest of honour at the opening screening.

This years eclectic program is filled with a powerful mixture of contemporary and retrospective titles and there are some that will push the boundaries of even our most open minded audience members - namely Hardcore, Oxygen,Matchbox and R20 by Lakis Lazopoulos (you may want to leave your parents at home for these!).

Other Festival Highlights include Never on Sunday starring Melina Mercouri, Caccoyianis' adaptation of Anton Chekhov's The Cherry Orchard and Z by Costas Gavras. Also of note are A Song is Not Enough and Eyes of Night.

The festival would like to thank our partners, Palace Cinemas and The Greek Film Centre and all of our sponsors and supporters - notably Village Roadshow- for their generous support.
We hope you enjoy this cinematic feast.   more >>
