All Festival films are restricted to persons aged 18 years and over [R18]. This does not necessarily relate to the content of the films, but to the censorship laws regulating festivals, as enforced by the Office of Film & Literature Classification.

The Antipodes Festival in partnership with Palace Cinemas is proud to present

the 12th Antipodes Greek Film Festival. The Film Festival highlights the best in contemporary Greek cinema by presenting the most exciting films produced in Greece over the last 12 months.

Our Opening Night film is A Touch of Spice, one of the best loved and most watched films in Greek cinematic history (1.5 million admissions in Greece). Emotionally powerful, A Touch of Spice is a film that reduced even the most hardened critic to tears. We are privileged to have the director, Tassos Boulmetis, join us on Opening Night.

The 2004 selection features an engaging combination of both contemporary and classic titles, encompassing political thrillers, relationship dramas, comic farces and more. Hardcore, Oxygen, Matchbox and director Lakis Lazopoulos' R20 push boundaries with their graphic depictions of contemporary social life in Greece, whilst A Song is Not Enough, Eyes of Night and Totally Married have screened to great response on the international film festival circuit.

We would like to thank our partners, Palace Cinemas and The Greek Film Centre and all of our sponsors and supporters - notably Village Roadshow - for their generous support.     more >>
