Tassos Takes Sydney By Storm A Touch of Spice Director Tassos Boulmetis was overwhelmed as he spoke at the opening of the 2004 Greek Film Festival at Palace Norton Street Leichhardt last Thursday night. He spoke of his surprise and happiness at discovering the strength and popularity of Greek film in Australia and was blown away by the response to what is only his second feature film. The stage belonged to Tassos but he had a fantastic support crew in the one and only Lex Marinos and SBS Movie shows inimitable Jaimie Leonarder and his beautiful fiancé Aspacia who officially opened the festival.
Almost 600 people packed out three cinemas to watch the films eagerly awaited Sydney premier and no one left disappointed. One patron was so enthralled by the film that she still had tears streaming down her cheeks at the after party in Leichhardt Town Hall. The party was also one of the finest in the history of the Greek film festival with a tantalizing array of food and drinks on offer as people shared their thoughts on the film. The festival team and The Greek Orthodox Community of NSW would like to thank everyone for attending and supporting the festival and we look forward to seeing you at many other films over the next 10 days. Thank you once again for your support and please spread the word around to all of your friends and family and we look forward to seeing you again soon.
