An old-age ritual sacrifice to the gods, surviving through Christian faith to the present day, is seen through the eyes of an eight year-old boy guided by his grandmother's memories. Through this story the documentary brings to life the cultural fusions and conflicts of pre-Christian and Byzantine traditions, the Orient and the West, exploring a tradition of eroticism and revelry, religious faith and death.
