An exploration of human abasement and guilt through the confessions of seven murderers and a prison warder. The film delves into images, recollections, nightmares, everyday reality and attempts by these men to escape their extreme predicament. The detention centre, the morgue, the courts of justice, the police station, the derelict old prison, the streets of the city, all constitute the mournful route of the perpetrator.
