A satire of postwar commercial Greek cinema, the film uses all the cinematic clichés of the period to create a self-parodic melodrama.

The conflict between two families, one wealthy and the other poor, provides a story that includes femme fatales, righteous lawyers, society babes, working-class lads, shipping magnates, marriages of convenience and 'tragic' pasts told through popular period genres.
